Description

Part time/weekends Direct Support Professionals. A Perfect Job for Busy People or Possible Second Job Greater Torrington, CT.

We are actively recruiting for Direct Support Professionals! Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to assist people with intellectual and developmental disabilities live full and happy lives.

The starting pay is $18.29 per hour. We offer excellent benefits, including very inexpensive employee health, dental, vision and life insurance, as well as a 401K. Our DSPs get 3 weeks paid leave in their first year!

The Arc of Litchfield County, Inc. (LARC), is seeking professional, kind, caring, creative, and energetic Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to assist people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live full and happy lives. Spend your days positively enhancing the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) by providing support in every aspect of their life.

You can make a difference.Create fun and innovative activities to share with people who have I/DDs. The DSP position is hands-on, providing personal care that includes personal hygiene, food preparation, transportation, and recreational activities. Must be at least 21-years old with a valid CT driver's license and a clean driving record.

Paid training is provided.

QUALIFICIATIONS & TRAININGS:

  • The DSP shall have a minimum of a High School Diploma/GED.

  • Typically, 0-3 years on the job experience.

  • Valid CT Driver's license

  • Must maintain all LARC required and State mandated training certifications and re-certifications.

    COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:

    Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel, Outlook, and be comfortable using tablets and smartphones along with other general office equipment.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The DSP shall have the essential physical skills: be able to run, squat, stoop/bend, kneel, climb stairs, be able to lift up to 50 pounds , push/pull against potential resistance, and be able to implement CPR with individuals supported when needed.

  • The DSP shall have adequate vision, reading, writing, and documentation skills, and hearing to perform the essential functions of the job.

  • The DSP will be engaged in speaking, sitting, walking, driving, listening, and in communicating both orally and in writing while performing his or her duties.

  • The employee must be able to listen and respond to questions and instructions.

  • Driving is required.
