The Role

Reporting to the Associate Director Payroll, the Senior Associate Payroll Accounting Operations role is a key member of the Finance team responsible and accountable for supporting and processing the rapidly growing US payroll and accounting function, ensuring payroll and the monthly accounting close is processed timely, completely, and accurately and in compliance with Federal and State regulations and mandates. The Senior Associate Payroll Accounting Operations will be responsible for US Payroll Accounting monthly and quarter close deliverables, audit and SOX support as well as, special projects and process improvement initiatives. Projects include, but are not limited to, Blackline implementation, SAP enhancements, ADP interface optimization, US multi-state tax allocation project, and various other HR/Payroll/Finance related process improvements.

This individual contributor role will partner closely with HR Operations, HRIS, Accounting Operations, FP&A, Tax and other cross-functional stakeholders to develop and improve end to end Hire-to-Retire and Account-to-Report processes. The ideal candidate for this role will have a foundation in Accounting/Finance and experience working for a multi-national publicly traded company or public accounting firm. Additionally, the candidate should be a hands-on proactive self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong ERP system (SAP is a plus) and Excel skills, cross functional project management and end-to-end process mindset.

Responsibilities

Perform payroll accounting processes including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and internal SOX controls ensuring they are complete, accurate and operating effectively during the monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting close cycles.

Ensure complete, accurate, and timely preparation, analysis and distribution of payroll including salaries, benefits, garnishments, withholding taxes, and other deductions.

Ensure state registrations are completed in a timely manner, as applicable, to support payroll withholding tax reporting and payroll processing. Process 940/941 tax payments, accurate and timely year-end reporting (W-2, W-2c, etc.).

Support equity compensation transactions (RSU and Warrant Exercises) by executing payroll withholding taxes (next day deposit rule) and issuing net remit settlement payments to employees.

Serve as a key internal contact for employee related payroll questions. Maintain employee confidence by ensuring high discretion and treating sensitive payroll information as confidential.

Identify and participate in cross functional process improvement projects as needed to remediate recurring pain points and leverage digital innovation tools such as AI to streamline processes.

Participate in ERP and systems implementation projects as needed, such as Blackline SAP bolt-on initiative.

Participate in internal and external audit reviews as needed and fulfill audit data requests, including workers compensation audits, 401K audits, and payroll tax audits, as applicable.

Ensure governmental statistical reporting requirements are met.

Assist in the preparation of public reporting disclosures for compensation matters.

Support the activation and deactivation of the AMEX Corporate credit card program in the US.

Additional responsibilities may be required to support the needs of the business.

Requirements

2 years of accounting operations experience in a multi-national publicly traded company or public accounting firm with solid understanding of payroll accounting processes, general accounting principles (IFRS a plus), and monthly close and SOX requirements.

BA or BS recommended.

CPA or CPP a plus.

Hands on experience with SAP S4 financial ERP system and ADP Workforce Now preferred.

Strong excel and financial analysis skills and abilities, with strong attention to detail.

Ability to thrive and multi-task as a self-starter in a fast-paced, high-growth organizational environment with time sensitive deliverables and project support.

Proven ability to work cross functionally and influence end to end transversal process changes.

Comfortable with ambiguity and the need to create processes and procedures based on best practices.

Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills with executive presence and ability to influence.

For US based candidates, the proposed salary band for this position is as follows:

$71,250.00---$118,750.00

The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation, such as bonuses.
