Content Strategist, Social Media
The Eye & Ear Foundation is a Department within the School of Medicine. The Foundation supports the research and educational efforts of the Departments of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology. This position will aid in the communication and marketing needs for both the Departments as well as the Foundation. A successful candidate will have the following skills: interviewing, communication, storytelling, content management, photography, knowledge to increase social media platforms, and marketing.
Job Summary
Coordinates and leads digital and social media presence by managing University channels, developing and editing channel content, and managing social media calendars. Maintains University social media guidelines and branding and ensures strategic alignment with University objectives. Monitors social media engagement and utilizes digital marketing metrics. Identifies and pursues social media growth opportunities.
Essential Functions
Develops moderately complex digital marketing, social media, and communications efforts for the Departments of Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology and the Eye & Ear Foundation. This will involve visits to labs, clinics, or faculty offices to obtain content. Interview and journalistic skills. Writes varied medical and research content across platforms, coordinates production of concurrent communications and maintains communication calendars. Analyzes social media and email campaign performance. Acts as strategic contributor for communications team. Attends events for the purpose of photos and obtaining content. Attends meetings designed for content planning and development. Ensures consistent messaging.
Physical Effort
Little physical effort is required.
Position is mostly sedentary in front of computer or interviewing faculty.
Ability to travel to various UPMC facilities.
