Job Summary

The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at The University of Texas Arlington invites applications for a full-time Non-Tenure-Track (NTT) research faculty position in Sustainable Energy Geochemistry and/or Environmental Geochemistry. We seek a broadly trained geochemist who complements the interdisciplinary nature of our geology and environmental science programs. Ideal candidates are expected have strong records of research in the areas related to fluid-rock chemical interactions for CO2 underground storage, carbon mineralization, geothermal exploration, serpentinization for H2 production, or pollutant transport in water, soil, and air, and demonstrate a high likelihood of continued research success. Our geochemistry analytical strengths include the on-campus Shimadzu Institute for Research Technologies ( https://shimadzuinstitute.org ), particularly the Shimadzu Center for Environmental, Forensics, and Material Science.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the research faculty will be to work as an active researcher with the faculty mentors in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. This will include conducting research leading to publications and participating in the development and submission of related research grant proposals in the areas of sustainable energy geochemistry and/or environmental geochemistry.

Required Qualifications

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in geochemistry or environmental chemistry.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with a track record of research and scholarly activity in the expected research areas.

The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences has both M.S. and Ph.D. graduate degrees in Earth and Environmental Sciences. Information on the EES program can be found at http://www.uta.edu/ees/index.php .

The Shimadzu Center for Environmental, Forensics, and Material Science harnesses the most up-to-date technology for the study of major and trace element analysis, contaminant detection, and material structures. Instrumentation includes multiple X-ray platforms and electron microprobe analyzer; atomic absorption, inductively coupled plasma emission and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (https://shimadzuinstitute.org/centers/environmental-forensics-material-science/).
